Autorickshaws are one of the most popular modes of transport in Asian countries. With Atul Auto, Advandes developed a 3 wheeler for the Indian roads called Atul RIK. The aim was to revamp the design language of Atul vehicles and improve on the performance of the vehicle by making it compact and agile. The front fascia draws inspiration from a honey bee as we could associate the "busyness" of a bee with that of the auto-driver on his duty. We generated conceptual themes to connect the end user emotively to the brand and styling.
The exterior of the vehicle uses chrome-plated elements for a premium look and the interiors are in a classy beige which makes the passenger area look spacious. Ergonomics study defined the layout and seating design. We studied the Indian anthropometric data and conducted driver and passenger interviews for gaining qualitative insights about in-travel comfort, ingress and egress. Based on the study, a basic layout was generated that was translated to a prototype with the engineering team's support. Advandes developed a chassis with a sleeker yet stable structure to enable the vehicle to travel through tight spaces.
The vehicle dashboard has an organic design and integrates features like a mobile holder, music system and storage compartments. The prototyping team developed molds and panels to make a working model which was presented in the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo.
