Captain Tractors is one of the leading agricultural equipment company in India. With a mission of revolutionizing ways of farming through various solutions in farm mechanization, Captain tractors look forward to leading the mini tractor sector. Captain tractors teamed with Advandes for designing the 7th generation of their tractor range. The project encompassed design, ergonomics and user experience exercises to uplift the brand face and aesthetics of the tractors. The scope of work included:
Redesigning the bonnet
Redesigning the branding layout on the tractor
Design the dashboard and instrument cluster
Redesigning the wheel arc
3D CAD
Prototyping
We acquired key insights and understood the needs through extensive research and interaction with the farmers. Designed by Advandes, the 7th generation of captain tractors is a remarkable shift from a boxy sheet metal body to an organic and user friendly design. The new design DNA takes its form inspiration from a bull's stance - Controlled, Strong and Powerful. The bonnet's front opening mechanism makes it easy for lifting and also allows access to the serviceable machine parts. Parting lines on the bonnet are planned such that the user will have to lift minimum weight. Blended with the form of the bonnet, the dashboard has an in-built instrument panel with an antiglare and waterproof screen. It also holds a socket and a stand for mobile charging. Designed around a farmer's needs, Captain mini tractor has surfaces that are gentle for safety and comfort.
Advandes developed the 3D CAD for prototyping and further manufacturing. The design was prototyped at our workshop with the design, engineering and prototyping teams, with no compromise on functionality or aesthetics. 3D surfaces of the tractor bonnet were generated, which were further translated into molds. Various parts and materials like FRP and metal were seamlessly integrated to achieve the organic design. This tractor series was a huge success in the market for its user friendly design and modern styling features.
